Subject: Need to support tourism in the upcoming season

There can be no doubt that the tourism sector and all those involved in it have been hardest hit by the pandemic crisis.

Indeed, the economies of the Member States dependent on tourism will be unable to withstand another lost year.

Timely measures and strategies are needed to successfully manage the new season, notwithstanding the impact of the pandemic, which remains an imponderable.

A European framework strategy is needed to address vital key issues, such as measures to facilitate travel, cheap air fares and a well-timed Europe-wide advertising campaign.

In view of this:

Does the Commission have a plan to bolster the European tourism industry, stimulate other economic activities and provide assistance for European citizens?
