The EU has stepped up its communications on the recovery plan for Europe. In view of the agreement between Member States on the REACT-EU plan, the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform stated:
‘This new initiative is a further step in supporting Member States’ recovery, providing additional funding for bridging the gap between the first emergency crisis response and the long-term recovery of the economy supported by the 2021-2027 programming period. We are working hard to ensure a fair and cohesive recovery’(1).
Recently, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, stated: ‘The Committee of the Regions is not Europe’s press agency, but the intermediary’(2), insisting that regions be consulted when expenditure strategies for recovery plan funds are being devised.
- Could the Commission give details of how much funding has been earmarked for the recovery plan in French regional authorities?
- Has the Commission introduced a specific policy to adapt the implementation of the recovery plan to take account of cross-border regions?
- Has it established monitoring indicators to prevent the spread of any fake news about the sums allocated under the plan?
