The President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, has sent a letter to the President of the Euro Summit, Charles Michel. The letter takes stock of the progress achieved in the Eurogroup on key policy issues relevant for the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) published three Country of Origin Information (COI) reports. The first report is titled Somalia: Targeted profiles, the second one Somalia: Key socio-economic indicators and the third one Somalia: Security situation. These reports are part of a series of four COI reports on Somalia that have been produced in 2021. On June 29, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) published the report ‘Countering online vaccine misinformation in the EU/EEA, with a focus on misinformation related to vaccination against measles (in combination with mumps and rubella), human papillomavirus (HPV), influenza, and COVID-19.

The report explores the evidence base for how to counter online vaccine misinformation in the EU/EEA, current strategies used by public health authorities in a selection of EU countries, and training needs on this topic.

08 Jun: European Commission reports on progress in Romania under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism

The European Commission adopted today its latest report on developments in Romania on judicial reform and the fight against corruption, in the context of its commitments under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM).

Today’s report takes stock of the progress under the CVM since October 2019 and assesses progress on the 12 recommendations of January 2017 and the eight additional recommendations of November 2018 within the existing four benchmarks. The fulfilment of all remaining recommendations is essential to the reform process and for allowing the CVM to be completed for Romania.

MEPs take stock of developments and propose ways to improve the EC’s approach moving forward, with an eye set on the upcoming 2021 report on the rule of law in the EU.

The Civil Liberties Committee approved the own-initiative report by Domènec Ruiz Devesa (S&D, ES) on the Commission’s 2020 Rule of Law report on Thursday with 49 votes for, 10 against and 4 abstentions. It highlights areas for improvement, and sets out Parliaments priorities and concerns in protecting EU values.

01 Jun: ESMA PUBLISHES FINAL REPORT ON THE MIFIDII/MIFIR OBLIGATIONS ON MARKET DATA

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, has today published its Final Report on Guidelines on the MiFIDII/MiFIR obligations on market data. The Final Report sets out guidelines on the requirements to publish market data on a reasonable commercial basis and to make market data available free of charge 15 minutes after publication.

The Guidelines, by providing clarity for market participants, will ensure better and uniform application of these MiFID II/MiFIR obligations. The guidelines apply to national competent authorities, trading venues, approved publication arrangements, consolidated tape providers and systematic internalisers.
