Subject: Impact of lack of harmonised customs controls on EU revenue
According to the ECA, the level of harmonisation of customs controls among Member States is still not sufficient to safeguard the EU’s financial interests.
Despite steps in the right direction, EU rules are not well enough designed to ensure that Member States select the imports to be controlled in a uniform manner.
