The number of vulnerable adults (those who cannot defend their interests) owning property in or moving to another EU country is growing in the EU due to demographic changes and greater mobility.

However, the Hague Convention on the International Protection of Adults is in force in only 10 EU countries.

03 Dec: CONSULTATIONS: Combating terrorism – EU Counter-Terrorism Register to step up exchange of information

To help EU countries better report terrorism cases to Eurojust and Europol, in 2019 Eurojust created the Counter-Terrorism Register. However, information exchange still needs to improve.

Summary

Joint investigation teams bring together prosecutors, law enforcement authorities & judges from two or more EU countries to fight cross-border crime. They are one of the most successful tools for cross-border investigations and prosecutions in the EU.

This initiative aims to create a dedicated IT collaboration platform for them to communicate and exchange information and evidence. The platform will fully comply with EU data protection rules on the legality of exchanging information and evidence.
