During the Afghanistan Pledging Conference today, the Commission will announce €113 million in EU humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people, addressing the urgent needs in Afghanistan and the region. This includes €18 million allocated in Iran and Pakistan this year.

On 12 April 2021, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2021/5951 amending Council Decision 2011/235/CFSP. The Council Decision renews the existing restrictive measures for a further twelve months, until 13 April 2022, and amends the list of persons and entities subject to restrictive measures as set out in the Annex to Decision 2011/235/CFSP. On 12 April 2021, the Council also adopted Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2021/5852 implementing Council Decision 2011/235/CFSP. Today the Commission has announced renewed support for those most in need in Iran and Pakistan with €22 million in humanitarian aid. This package will assist those most affected by man-made crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, climate induced and other natural disasters in the region.
