20 May: MEPs approve the EU’s new culture programme

On Wednesday, MEPs adopted ‘Creative Europe’, the EU’s programme for culture and the audiovisual sector, and the EU’s biggest ever financial commitment.

The new programme, with its budget almost doubled when compared to 2014-2020, (up from 1.4 billion euro) will invest 2.5 billion euro (in current prices) in the EU’s cultural and creative sectors. 17 May: Press conference on Erasmus+, Creative Europe and European Solidarity Corps

On Tuesday at 10.30, leading MEPs on the EU’s culture, education and youth programmes will brief the media ahead of the final approval of these flagship programmes for 2021-2027.

Plenary will assess the programmes on Tuesday evening, with adoption expected at the end of the respective debate.

The MEPs participating in the press conference are:

Sabine Verheyen (EPP, DE), Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education,

Milan Zver (EPP,SL) rapporteur for the Erasmus+ programme,

Massimiliano Smeriglio (S&D, IT), rapporteur for “Creative Europe”, and

Michaela Šojdrova (EPP, CZ), rapporteur for the European Solidarity Corps.
