Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York

We offer:

Traineeships of up to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation  to the United Nations in New York, starting in September 2022:

  • Section 1 – Political Affairs and Security Council*: dealing with these subjects including the activities of the United Nations relating to international peace and security, including peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and non-proliferation/disarmament issues, in particular at the Security Council and General Assembly, and coordinates as appropriate the position of the EU and its Member States in these fora.
    *Due to the large number of applicants for this section, you will need to submit an essay in addition to your cover letter and CV when sending your application. Please answer the question “how do you see the role the EU can play on peace and security matters at the United Nations” in 300 words max.  Please note that longer essays won’t be considered.
  • Section 2 – Coordination, Press and Information: dealing with the coordination of the activities of the Delegation, public diplomacy, communication regarding the activities of the Delegation.
  • Section 3 – Sustainable Development: dealing with this subject, discussed within the 2nd Committee of the UN General assembly
  • Section 4 – Human Rights and Social Affairs*: dealing with these subjects, discussed within the 3rd Committee of the UN General assembly
    *Due to the large number of applicants for this section, you will need to submit an essay in addition to your cover letter and CV when sending your application. Please prepare a short summary on the reactions of UN human rights senior officials and mandate holders regarding the situation of human rights in Ukraine after the 24th February.
  • Section 5 – Legal and Institutional Affairs, Counter-terrorism and Sanctions: dealing with this subject, discussed within the 6th Committee of the UN General assembly.
  • Section 6 – Humanitarian Affairs: dealing with this subject, discussed mainly within the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly
