On Wednesday 30 June, the High Representative of the European Union, Mr. Josep Borrell, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Ms. Erika Mouynes, signed the EU-Panama Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Consultations.

With the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding, the EU and Panama agree to hold annual bilateral consultations between Brussels and Panama City in order to exchange on topics and issues of mutual interest.

HRVP Borrell said: “The signature of the Memorandum showcases the importance of EU-Panama relations and the willingness on both sides to reinforce them. There are many areas in which Europe and Panama can cooperate. In the current context of the pandemic, working together for a green, inclusive, and sustainable recovery will notably be of key mutual interest.”
