CONSULTATIONS: Political advertising – improving transparency

As stated in President von der Leyen’s Political guidelines, the Commission will present a package of measures to ensure greater transparency in political advertising, particularly as political campaigning moves online.

This initiative addresses economic actors, EU political parties and others, and aims to:

  • support the functioning of the single market for advertising services
  • ensure the source and purpose of advertising is known
  • combat disinformation and interference in democracy in the EU.
