CONSULTATIONS: EU competition law – updating the market definition notice (revision)

Deadline: 16-02-2022

(Source: European Commission)

Summary

Market definitions are used in EU competition law to identify the boundaries of competition between firms.

In 1997, the Commission issued the market definition notice to explain its approach to defining relevant product and geographic markets.

Following an evaluation, this initiative will revise the notice to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date. It will also set out a clear, consistent and accessible approach to market definition in antitrust and merger cases across sectors.
