Last night, One World Media celebrated the winners of this year’s Awards. This Awards season brought a wide range of stories from around the world. The panels of 62 judges made their selections of stories from 101 countries across 15 categories including EIB’s sponsored ‘Women’s solutions reporting’ award. This Award is for entries that explore women’s solutions in the global south, showcasing successful initiatives by and for women, of any scale, that help to tackle challenges faced by them and society at large.

We are thrilled to congratulate the winner of the Women’s solutions reporting’ award, Khorloo Khukhnokhoi, for Female Students Revolt Against ‘Virginity Tests’ published in Global Press Journal. Her powerful story contributed to protect the rights of young girls in Mongolia.

EIB Secretary General Marjut Falkstedt, who was one of the judges of the Women’s solutions reporting award said: “I am extremely impressed of the quality and diversity of the stories that competed for the Women’s solutions reporting award. They all shined a light on inspiring and often brave women and men taking small or big steps to improve their lives and the ones of their communities, to cope with injustice, discrimination and challenges posed by climate change and the Covid-19. I am proud that the European Investment Bank has supported this award and hope these stories will be viewed and read by the greatest number of people.”

Khorloo Khukhnokhoi’s story was shortlisted with two other nominees: 101 East: The Widows of Everest, by Sreya Banerjee and Rojita Adhikari for Al Jazeera English and Being a woman in Asia: Hear their voices, see their stories by Bettina Thoma-Schade, for DW Deutsche Welle.
