Answer to Written Question: Anti-Racism Coordinator
(Source: European Parliament)
Answer given by Mr Reynders
on behalf of the European Commission
The Commission adopted the EU anti-racism action plan in September 2020 that announced the appointment of a Commission coordinator for anti-racism. The coordinator role is to liaise closely with people with a minority racial or ethnic origin and to interact with Member States, the European Parliament as well as civil society.
In addition, the coordinator joins forces with Commission services to ensure a successful implementation of the measures contained in the action plan. These measures cover a comprehensive range of policy areas including legislative and awareness-raising measures as laid out in the action plan.
The resources in relation to the coordinator are covered from the Commission’s operational budget; there are no additional funds allocated at the disposal of the coordinator.
